Steve Riley voted in favor of voter suppression

Steve Riley, incumbent Representative for District 23 supported SB-2 which was quite simply a voter suppression bill. This bill requires all voters to have a state issued voter ID to vote in our next election. Why is this important? Because there has not been one single case of recorded in-person voter fraud in Kentucky in our entire history. This law is a “solution” in search of a non-existent problem. Add to that that this law was passed in the middle of a global pandemic when all of the County Clerks’ offices across the state are closed. So if you don’t currently have a state ID, you can’t even get one. So if you recently moved to Kentucky, or recently has your purse or wallet stolen or lost, or are maybe a senior citizen living in a retirement community who doesn’t drive and hasn’t had a license in years – you don’t get to vote in this election.

Let’s be honest, this is a Republica case of voter suppression, plain and simple, specifically aimed at trying to get Mitch McConnell reelected and keep the legislature controlled by the Repoublican. In an incredibly repugnant stance to take and is against the very definition of democracy. Unfortunately, that seems to be what the party of Steve Riley stands for.
